Plitvice Lakes became protected national park back in 1949, and since 1979 the place is also listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. This wonderful natural phenomenon consists of 16 interconnected lakes and over 90 waterfalls of different size. On our way to Plitvice we will pass the area of Turanj that use to be a front line during the War of Independence between 1991 and 1995. We can stop at Turanj Military Complex to see the collection of weapons and army vehicles that were used in the battles.

We continue towards Rastoke watermill village, often called “Small Plitvice” for its amazing cascades, watermills and stone and wood architecture.

After enjoying this view for a while we continue towards UNESCO-listed Plitvice Lakes National Park famous for its numerous waterfalls and beautiful lakes.

We will have a walk through this magical wonder of nature that never fails to surprise us with its changing hues of lakes, strength of the water and sounds of the nature. The national park is the perfect place to see geology in action, as the rivers and streams that flow through the Plitvice Lakes continue to shape the karst formations and rock landscape visible during your tour.

Due to diversity of flora, presence of endemic, rare and protected species, the Park is designated as an exceptionally valuable floristic area not only in Croatia, but also in Europe and the world. With 157 bird species recorded so far it is the third largest population of birds among the national parks of Croatia.

You will wander along the boardwalks and bridges, pass by the waterfalls, explore the diverse plant and animal life, watch the fishes swimming in turquoise clear water and have many breathtaking views perfect for making memorable photos.

Take an electric boat ride across Lake Kozjak and park’s panoramic train for the full experience.

You might also enjoy homemade Croatian specialties typical for that region in one of the recommended restaurants (own expense).

Late afternoon your driver will take you back to the place of departure.

If you want to see the Lakes from another perspective we can organize a biking/hiking/horse riding/bird watching tour as all 90 waterfalls are linked by network of different types of trails.
