Escape from the city crowd and visit mystical medieval fortress Medvedgrad on the hill which has been watching over Zagreb for eight centuries.

The fortress can be seen from many points of the Zagreb city, and even though it seems far away it is just a few minute drive from the city center.

Experience an easy 2 hours hike through forest of Medvednica Nature Park which is most adorable weekend walking destination for Zagreb people. So close to the city and yet so different, this dense forest offers you possibility for close encounter with a deer, fawn or a rabbit and typical Croatian forest plants.

You will visit medieval Medvedgrad fortress that was built in 13th century after the invasion of Tartars who have destroyed the settlements in Zagreb – the burger’s Gradec and bishop’s Kaptol.

You will hear the stories about the medieval battles, Medvedgrad legends,  lives of the lords, mystical stories about the Black Queen and you might  drink fresh water from the Queens old spring well   that refreshes Zagreb people for 600 years.

We will rest in a typical mountain lodge where you will try homemade Croatian food (bean stew / cottage cheese) that is typical for continental Croatia.
